Insider gives update on two potential trade targets for Steelers

The Steelers have been linked to Commanders edge rusher Chase Young and Cardinals LB/S Budda Baker, but how much truth is there to each team being willing to move on from their talented player?

NFL insider Ian Rapoport shed some light on both potential trades. He starts with Young, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft and former Defensive Rookie of the Year.

"I don't get the sense Washington wants to trade him right now, even though they didn't pick up the fifth-year option," Rapoport said on "The Pat McAfee Show." "He is a very good player when healthy, and I think for him, being healthy and going out and showing you can do it probably makes more sense than anything."

It may come as a disappointment to fans in Pittsburgh, but a trade wouldn't have made a whole lot of sense anyway.

The Steelers already have linebackers T.J. Watt, Alex Highsmith, who they're in contract negotiations with, Marcus Golden, whom they recently signed on a one-year deal, and Nick Herbig, the team's 2023 fourth-round pick.

Rapoport then spoke on Baker's situation. Although it doesn't seem likely, he's less confident Arizona won't let him go.

"I have not gotten the sense that they would trade Budda Baker," Rapoport added. "Then again, we do hear this all the time where a team doesn't want to do something, and someone offers enough ... I don't think it'll happen, but I would never say never, especially if the Cardinals are going to be in that sort of rebuilding mode that I kind of think they'll be in."

Baker, the Cardinals' 2017 second-round pick, has 650 tackles, 7.5 sacks, six forced fumbles and seven interceptions since entering the league.

A trade for Baker would make much more sense for Pittsburgh, who would likely use him as an athletic linebacker.

Either way, Omar Khan has been very aggressive in his first full offseason as general manager, so don't be surprised if another big move is made, whether it's for Young, Baker or someone else.
